What is Place of Service (POS)?
Place of Service (POS) refers to the location address where the services are rendered. Selected location’s POS is automatically selected, as defined in location’s profile. If the following POS are selected, slight changes are made to the generation of the charge and claim:
• POS 12: Home – Patient’s address is sent in the claim, instead of location address.
• POS 13: Assisted Living Facility – Patient’s address is sent in the claim, instead of location address.
• POS 41: Ambulance Land – Ambulance transport section appears on the charge.
• POS 42: Ambulance Air or Water – Ambulance transport section appears on the charge.
The following POS codes have been added to the billing section.

POS 16: Temporary Lodging – Patient’s address is sent in the claim, instead of location address.
POS 17: Walk-in Retail Health Clinic – walk-in health clinic, other than an office, urgent care facility, pharmacy or independent clinic
POS 18: Place of Employment-Worksite – Patient’s address is sent in the claim, instead of location address.
POS 58: Non-residential Opioid Treatment Facility – Treatment facility for opioid use disorder appears on the charge.
