Apply Plan-Specific Rendering Provider & Location Rules to Institutional EDI Claims
What’s New
Plan-specific Rendering Provider and Location rules are now applied dynamically during Institutional EDI claim generation. The system checks each plan’s Miscellaneous settings before populating these fields:
-
Required → Fields are always populated, overriding standard 5010 situational logic.
-
Not Allowed → Fields are never populated.
-
Situational → Standard 5010 rules are applied.
Existing behavior remains unchanged for plans without defined configurations.
How It Works
-
The system evaluates plan-specific rules for Rendering Provider and Location independently.
-
For each field:
-
If marked Required, the field is populated in the EDI claim file.
-
If marked Not Allowed, the field is omitted.
-
If marked Situational or no configuration exists, standard 5010 rules are applied.
-
-
Claims are generated with these rules applied, ensuring compliance with the payer’s specifications.
-
Existing plans without these settings continue using prior behavior, preserving backward compatibility.
Benefits
-
Eliminates rejections due to incorrect Rendering Provider or Location segments.
-
Ensures each claim aligns with exact payer requirements.
-
Reduces manual edits and post-submission corrections.
-
Improves claim acceptance rates.
-
Enhances flexibility by supporting varying payer requirements automatically.
-
Maintains backward compatibility for existing plans.
