What’s Newnew_symbol-1

A new configuration setting titled Ensure HGB/HCT for ESA drugs in admin has been added under Settings > Practice Configurations > Billing. When enabled, the system enforces HGB/HCT value entry during ESA-based drug administration or dispensing.HGBHCT

If users attempt to proceed without selecting HGB or HCT values, a blocking prompt appears with a context-specific message:

  • If both values are missing: “Please select the latest HGB/HCT values to proceed.”

  • If only HGB is missing: “Please select the latest HGB values to proceed.”

  • If only HCT is missing: “Please select the latest HCT values to proceed.”
If no ESA modifier is selected, the system also warns: “No ESA modifier is selected. This will affect billing and documentation.”

Missing fields are visually highlighted with red borders for easy identification.

HGBHCT2When the configuration is OFF, the system maintains existing behavior, showing soft prompts instead of blocking the workflow.

Additionally, HGB/HCT lab values transmitted to the eSuperbill are now standardized to one decimal place (e.g., 13.86 → 13.9) using standard rounding rules.

How It Works

  1. Go to Settings > Practice Configurations > Billing.

  2. Locate Ensure HGB/HCT for ESA drugs in admin and enable the option.

  3. During Administration or Dispensing Cabinet workflows involving ESA drugs:

    1. The system checks for the latest HGB/HCT values.

    2. If either or both are missing, a blocking prompt appears with the appropriate message.

    3. Missing fields are highlighted for correction.

    4. If no ESA modifier is selected, an additional billing/documentation warning is displayed.

  4. Once valid HGB/HCT values are selected, the user can proceed with administration.

  5. When enabled, HGB/HCT values transmitted to eSuperbill are automatically rounded to one decimal place.

Benefits

  • Ensures clinical and billing compliance for ESA drug administration.

  • Prevents incomplete documentation and potential claim rejections.

  • Highlights missing HGB/HCT data for immediate correction.

  • Standardizes lab value precision for accurate eSuperbill transmission.

  • Provides practices with configurable control over data capture requirements.
