Dual Unit Display for Vitals in SOAP and Note Templates

Patient > Provider Notes > Note > Vitals

Settings > Template > Notes

What’s Newnew_symbol-1

  • Dual Unit Display Added: Height and weight now appear in both the primary and secondary unit preferences (e.g., metric and imperial).
  • Unified Formatting: Both SOAP and Note Template outputs follow the same formatter standards for spacing, unit labels, and rounding rules.
  • Automatic Conversion: When only one unit value is stored, the system automatically calculates and displays the equivalent secondary unit.
  • Dynamic Order Adjustment: Display order updates automatically based on the site’s selected primary unit preference.
  • UI and Print Consistency: The dual-unit format appears consistently in the on-screen UI, printed outputs, and exported PDFs.
  • Conditional Rendering: If height or weight data is missing, the value is omitted cleanly—no blank parentheses or punctuation.
  • Data Integrity: The enhancement affects only the display layer; stored measurement data remains unchanged.

How It Works

  • Open a Provider Note and navigate to the Vitals section or open a Note Template containing Vitals Flags (e.g., =Last Weight, =Last Height).

  • The system formats each measurement using both the primary and secondary unit preferences.

  • Example (Metric primary):

    • Weight: 55 kg (121 lb 4.4 oz)

    • Height: 151 cm (4 ft 11.6 in)

  • Example (Imperial primary):

    • Weight: 121 lb 4.4 oz (55 kg)

    • Height: 4 ft 11.6 in (151 cm)

  • If only one value exists (e.g., metric), the system calculates and displays the converted secondary unit automatically.

  • When site unit preferences change, all future note renderings and SOAP views reflect the updated display order.

  • The formatting is applied identically across the UI, PDF, and printed outputs.

  • If a value (e.g., height or weight) is unavailable, only the available measurement is displayed—without blank parentheses or punctuation.

Benefits

  • Standardizes unit display across SOAP Vitals and Note Templates.

  • Improves clarity and accuracy in clinical documentation.

  • Reduces confusion when switching between metric and imperial systems.

  • Maintains data integrity by displaying converted values without altering stored data.

  • Ensures consistent formatting across UI and print outputs for a professional, uniform appearance.
