BMI category labels updated in Vitals
What’s New?
With this enhancement in the CureMD application, BMI category labels in both the Vitals section and Provider Note have been updated to align with CDC’s standard terminology:
-
“Morbid Obesity” now replaces “Extremely Obese”
-
“Healthy Weight” now replaces “Normal Weight”
This update promotes clearer, clinically accurate documentation across the application.
How This Benefits You
Standardized Terminology – Aligns with CDC guidelines for BMI categorization, ensuring consistency across clinical records.
Improved Clinical Documentation – Provides more precise and meaningful labels that better reflect a patient’s health status.
Enhanced Patient Communication – Uses terminology that is more widely understood and accepted in clinical and patient settings.
Workflows Affected
-
Patient > Provider Note > Vitals
-
Patient > Clinical > Vitals
When users enter height, weight, and other vitals in the Vitals section, the system calculates BMI and now displays the updated category labels. This small but impactful change enhances both documentation clarity and patient care. For more information on BMI classifications, users can refer to the CDC Knowledgebase.
